hello, this is the fire department

this is never a good thing to hear when u pick up the phone.

especially when the lady on the other end of the phone has an authoritative voice. excuse me? i say... "ohh is this james's mother?" she says,

"ye----s", i say with fear. i have had these phone calls one too many times.

the kids routinely used to call 9-1-1 just because they could dial the numbers. i was preparing myself for a long explanation of the fact that my kids have this tendency to call the fire department when there really isn't an emergency (like the time johnpaul called when he was 2 and i was in the bathtub and heard the doorbell ring. a policeman was banging on the outside wondering what the problem is..ughhh)

but no, thank god that wasn't the case this time

i was pleasantly surprised to hear that she was calling because james won a fire department coloring contest and he would be recieving a new book in the mail as his prize.

what a sigh of relief that one was.


anyway i was glad he won the award
