so one of my goals to try to get these kids to read. its kinda a disgrace me being an english lit major and all my kids hate books... what is up with that? must be my husband patrick's mutated genes upon them.
anyway, if the book is about something they love like firetrucks they will actually take 2 seconds to look at it--which is 2 seconds more than they will look at a book about letters or something actually educational.
anyway i did find some tonka books 50% off today at borders and some firetruck books
when checking out though, little patrick said to the checkout lady " hey give back my firetruck book you POOP HEAD!"
i about died right there.
i was stunned by his words at first and just wanted to get the heck outta there. then i felt bad about the lady all day i hope she doesn't really feel like a poop head today. I can just imagine her going home to tell her friends that some brat called her a poop head today..sorry lady, i really am. i won't go back when she is working again, poor lady has already suffered enough from these kids
to make matters worse, the guy behind me said, "ahhhh looks like you really have your hands full with 3 boys..hahahaha" whatever i am sure he didn't have 3 boys so like he can really talk..lol
anyway i had to give patrick thomas a little lecture in the car and put his new book in time out. I am not sure he grasped all that though--in one ear and out the other for sure.
at home i actually read all the books to james and he listened. for whatever reason, despite his inattentiveness he does actually like books more than the lot of them. i hope he grows up to be a reader
